When we market our businesses we know social media is very powerful and achieving balance on those platforms is key. We are going to look at three ways to achieve balance in social media marketing. As social media marketers, we try to establish brand images to make sure there is a good first impression. However, we have to think about the consumer as well. When you are doing too much online it can perturb those key customers you have rather than make them excited to see and engage with your content. It might show up as engagement loss and possibly loss of customers in the long run. Achieving a social media balance in your social media marketing is key to your strategy.
Here are 3 ways you can help to achieve balance in your social media marketing:
1. Understanding Your Audience By Research & Experiments
Content is always changing and you always want to be able to connect with your audience. Experimenting with social media will help you to understand more about what your audience likes and dislikes, their social media engagement time, and so much more that will help you to decide on what makes those perfect posts they will want to interact with. Understanding why your audience comes to social media and choosing the best time at which your audience is most engaged and then posting at that time will help enormously. With a lot of this research, you can redesign your social media strategy to help bring up your engagement.
2. Don’t Post Too Much On Social Media
Being active is one thing, but it can be easy to overwhelm your audience on social media. It’s important to reach out to your audience and post relevant content to social media, and respond to comments from those posts. However, it is also important to ensure that you are not posting too much. Too many social media advertisements and product postings can cause your social media followers to become uninterested and unfollow your page.
3. Stop & Take A Moment To View Your Social Media Marketing
After you have used all of your new research, and maybe your still not getting the engagement you would like, take a step back and look at the big picture of your marketing strategy. Are you utilizing the platforms that are the most useful? Check on your follower counts to be sure they are not decreasing or sitting stagnant. They could be decreasing due to not enough relevant content or it could be too much promotional content. You want to make sure that only 20-30% of your content is promotional. Once you know what is or is not working then you can make your adjustments.
Most companies have a social media presence, but being on the right platforms to reach their target audience is important. Are you gearing your content to your audience? Strive for a meaningful social media presence and a balanced approach on platforms where the customers that are crucial for your brand live.
